The Incredibles Award

In August of 2007, I was recognized as an Honoree in The Incredibles Award within the Walt Disney World Resort PR department. These quarterly awards are given out to full-time cast members for their incredible contributions to the team. Unable to qualify for the awards themselves because of my intern status, but having been nominated by both the UK and Canada PR offices, I was honored with the following certificate. Having been the only intern to be recognized in The Incredibles Award was quite the accomplishment in itself.

CAA Magazine

CAA Magazine is the Canadian version of AAA Magazine which has a circulation of 1.5 million per month. This story featured Walt Disney World Resort and was my first big project that I managed. We shot for three days with a "model" family.

Click the images below to enlarge.

OK! Magazine

OK! Magazine (UK) is the top celebrity weekly, with a circulation of over 680,000 each week. Here is a photo shoot featuring solo singer and former member of the girl group Atomic Kitten, Natasha Hamilton, and her footballer husband and children enjoying their dream vacation at Walt Disney World Resort.

Cafeine (Canada) Broadcast Videos

Here are a few clips of the largest morning news program in Montreal, Canada. We shot packages for the first four days of their visit and went live every morning for the following three days.

This first clip is a dance sequence that they perform every Friday morning, only this time they performed it in Epcot and with some very special friends. The people dancing with them were some lucky viewers from Montreal who won a trip to Walt Disney World Resort with the whole Cafeine crew.

This is the finale clip on the last live broadcast which shows the massive crew working behind the scenes, even yours truly.

This clip shows our winners enjoying a mock “Ultimate Character Breakfast” in front of Cinderella Castle with some very special friends.

This clip follows our host as she explores Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. We happened to shoot this on the busiest night of the party’s run, which required us to carefully maneuver through the crowds safely while still getting the shots we needed to get.

NASA Space Day Press Event

On September 10, 2007, the entire crew of the Space Shuttle Endeavour were at Epcot to meet park guests and the press following their recent mission to the International Space Station. On hand were the first teacher in space and event headliner, Barbara Morgan, and Commander, Scott Kelly.

Below, I greet the crew as they make their way to the press event.
Coordinating interviews.

The first teacher in space, Barbara Morgan, is interviewed on her dream come true space flight. Commander Scott Kelly speaks to the press.

Disney Fan Magazine

Here is the more recent of two photo shoots I managed with Disney Fan Magazine, a Japanese magazine that is sold in Japan, Japanese book stores in the U.S., and Tokyo Disneyland Resort. This shoot was focused on popular merchandise for teenage girls, Walt Disney World restaurants, and new attractions and entertainment pertaining to The Year of a Million Dreams celebration.

Channel 1 Russia Broadcast Video

I worked exclusively with Channel 1 Russia while my manager was out of town on creating this broadcast story about the popularity of Mickey Mouse and the Year of the Mouse in Russia. Fast-Forward to 2:25 to see a glimpse of yours truly speaking on behalf of the Mouse himself.

O Canada! Press Event

On August 31, 2007, the updated attraction opened with a new host, Canadian actor Martin Short, and Canadian Idol winner Eva Avila reprising the film's theme song. This clip shows the press event's final moments where Eva belts out the theme song and is joined by Walt Disney World Resort President, Meg Crofton, and Mickey and Minnie Mouse. I was on hand to assist with media and interviews.

Publicity Photo

Cinderella welcomes the first Chinese family into the Cinderella Royal Castle Suite. The family was randomly awarded a stay in the Suite while in the dream place at the dream time at Downtown Disney. This is by far my favorite publicity photo I arranged.

ITV (UK) Broadcast Videos

Here are several clips of a week-long broadcast I worked on with ITV Yorkshire in the UK, which transmits to a population of 5.7 million viewers.

Orlando Sentinel Story

Although I primarily worked on the International Public Relations team at Walt Disney World Resort, I often helped my colleagues on the Domestic team. Here is a story in the Orlando Sentinel on a group of Cuban performers that I worked with the journalist on and managed the photo shoot.

Pitch Sheet - The U.S. Presidents at Walt Disney World

Cover Letter - The U.S. Presidents at Walt Disney World

The following cover letter was written and sent to top US-based foreign media on behalf of my boss, inviting the media on a press trip to report on Walt Disney World Resort while in the area for the 2008 Florida primary elections. This cover letter was sent in conjunction with the above pitch sheet.

January 15, 2008

If you or a colleague plan to cover the Florida presidential primary on January 29, we invite you to visit Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando and take advantage of a uniquely “Americana” story opportunity and to participate in this truly “presidential” tour, appropriately titled The U.S. Presidents at Walt Disney World.

President George W. Bush joins America's 42 presidents in the Magic Kingdom at the prestigious Hall of Presidents. Guests learn about the origins of the U.S. Constitution and see the challenges all the presidents have faced since The Declaration of Independence. This 23-minute presentation features a film projected on a 180-degree screen which reveals America's 42 presidents, brought to life by the magic of Disney's Audio-Animatronics technology.

You will also have an opportunity to interview guests as they exit The Hall of Presidents for their input on the next president.

At Epcot, The American Adventure attraction is a 29-minute theatrical presentation which features great moments in American history; inspiring dreamers and courageous citizens that have shaped the spirit of America since its earliest roots, combining the magic of Audio-Animatronics with innovations in film and special effects.

The American Adventure also features the National Treasures collection -- an exhibition which displays more than 40 unique artifacts from American history, such as one of Abraham Lincoln's stovepipe hats and much more.

Additionally, other photo and video opportunities are available, as well as an extensive collection of b-roll and photography.

Please call 407-566---- as soon as possible so we can make arrangements for your visit.

Sincerely,

Tony

Hoje em Dia (Brazil) Broadcast Videos

I completely managed every aspect of this week-long shoot with the largest morning news program in Brazil, Hoje em Dia. Hoje is comparable to Good Morning America and the four hosts are all huge celebrities. The Walt Disney World Resort segments ran over an 18 day period in January 2008.

This cooking segment features a Brazilian chef working at Walt Disney World Resort and some very familiar friends who stop by to see what is cooking.

This clip shows the hosts enjoying the Disney Dreams Come True Parade from a spot never before used for filming, but thanks to my suggestion it turned out to be a perfect filming location due to the heavy interaction between the characters and the four hosts.

This clip features the four hosts as they learn how the extraordinary firework displays at Walt Disney World Resort are executed each night.

This finale clip which features our hosts, my manager, and yours truly as we enjoy dinner and the final night of filming and fireworks followed by a tearful goodbye and a brief recap of all the magic Hoje em Dia got to experience.

Publicity Photo

This lucky group of friends from Canada were the winners of a Dream Vacation to spend the night in Cinderella Royal Castle Suite at Walt Disney World Resort, Florida and in the Mickey Mouse Penthouse Suite at Disneyland Resort, California, all in the same vacation.

The news spread so quickly that Hoje em Dia and its superstar hosts were going to be filming at Walt Disney World Resort, that dozens of Brazilian media flocked to the shoot at Magic Kingdom.

We ended up getting press about the shoot before it even aired! Here is one example of the pre-show press:

São Paulo Native Races Through Fire, Makes Dreams Come True At Walt Disney World Resort

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLA. -- Few people can describe their workplace as a fairy tale world filled with pirates, princesses and an enchanting castle at a place where dreams come true, but Eduardo Oliveira from São Paulo, Brazil, is one of the few people who truly do have a dream job. Oliveira creates magic as a Precision Driver at Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show at Walt Disney World Resort, Florida.

Oliveira moved to the United States in 1999 after commuting back and forth while working with different companies as a test driver and as a race car driver. After a chance meeting at Rally School with a fellow driver who had ties back to Walt Disney World Resort, Oliveira’s lifelong dream of becoming a professional driver came true. In February 2006 he began training as a Precision (Stunt) Driver with Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (formerly Disney-MGM Studios). This high-octane live stunt spectacular gives guests a behind-the-scenes look at how action stunts are created for the movies, where stunt drivers fly out of windows and through fiery explosions in specialty designed stunt cars. The show opened in 2005 to a nearly 5,000 seat stadium and operates multiple times daily.

Oliveira had been vacationing to Walt Disney World Resort since he was 11 and dreaming about becoming a professional driver as long as he can remember. He used to watch races as a child and get pictures and autographs of the drivers afterwards. Now as a professional stunt driver himself, he creates the same magic for others that he once wished for as a child. Oliveira and the other drivers often go out after the show to meet fans and give advice to the many young aspiring drivers. Oliveira and the drivers also create daily Magical Moments where they surprise guests with a backstage tour of the set and a chance to get up-close and personal with the real stars of the show: the cars!

“Big time,” Oliveira replied when asked if he feels that his cultural background has played a part in his role as a Precision Driver. “Guests seem to feel more a part of the magic when they meet a Brazilian cast member; there is a greater connection there. All I have to do is say “Hi” in Portuguese when I see a group of Brazilians and they came running over to meet me. It’s a real magical moment for them and for me.”

Currently, Oliveira is on Temporary Assignment as a Stunt Manager with the show in addition to his daily Precision Driving duties. “I always say that no matter what you find along the way, it is all good (“so alegria” in Portuguese),” said Oliveira. “My goal was to move to the U.S. and drive pro. I have, and I’ve meet many great friends along the way.”

Oliveira will have the opportunity to make many more dreams come true during the “Year of a Million Dreams,” a year-long celebration that continues to offer new attractions, entertainment, and Magical Moments at Disney Parks. In a magical place where every path leads to happily-ever-after, Eduardo Oliveira was able to bring his dreams to life as well as the dreams of the thousands of guests he surprises and entertains everyday.
